阿莫林在曼联的权威在其任期内多次受到质疑，包括他自己的质疑，但他在埃兰路球场赛后发表的言论彻底突破了界限，直接导致其离任。

此前，阿莫林曾批评过球员及自身，但这是他首次将尖锐矛头指向高层。他公开揭示了近期因球队选择、转会操作和比赛结果而日益激化的幕后矛盾。

阿莫林实质上是在要求曼联高层要么全力支持他，要么解雇他，而高层选择了后者。这一决定是与持有曼联多数股份的格雷泽家族共同做出的。

由于拉特克利夫主导的架构重组，曼联任命阿莫林为“主教练”（head coach），这背离了俱乐部传统的“经理”（manager）模式。

威尔科克斯也对三后卫体系是否适用于曼联乃至整个英超表示过保留意见，不过他最终仍支持了对阿莫林的选择。

尽管阿莫林屡有情绪化的爆发，拉特克利夫、贝拉达和威尔考克斯此前一直支持这位前中场。众所周知，拉特克利夫会表达对球队的看法。然而近期，这种对话在阿莫林眼中已逐渐被视为干预。
